In Dual mode, try pairing Life with Gnarl. Instead of ‘competing’ the two patterns are able to coexist ‘symbiotically’. Ordinarily most Life patterns will eventually stabilize, but the addition of Gnarl seems to perpetuate it.
In Alternator mode, try pairing Day & Night with Coagulations. The resulting patterns exhibit extremely complex behaviour, although they will always grow to fill all available space.
In Colours or Colours 2 mode, try setting all 3 patterns to Diamoeba and lowering the Erosion setting to 5. Then be patient until the colours reach their maximum values and the patterns all begin to change.
